Secure Pets In Moving Vehicles

Whenever you have to transport an animal in your car, keep it secured in a carrier, or under control by a back-seat passenger.

Small pets should never be allowed loose in the vehicle as they can easily slip into inaccessible nooks or crannies. Can you imagine trying to focus on getting safely off the expressway as your small child wails loudly in the back seat that her pet hamster has crawled under your seat & cannot be reached.

Large pets that cannot fit into carriers should either be well-trained enough to sit quietly on the back seat, or leashed & held onto firmly by a back seat passsenger. They should not be allowed to claw at the driver's arm, climb into the driver's seat or block the driver's sight through the rear windscreen or windows.

  • Keep all small pets securely in their carriers, & do not open the carrier until you reach your destination.
  • If a pet in a carrier seems to need attention, but leaps out of the carrier as one of your passengers checks on it, stop the car in a safe place & catch the animal first before you continue the journey. Do not just keep driving on & then meet with an accident when you find that in order to brake, you will first have to stomp on Fluffy (who is clinging to the brake pedal).
  • Invest in car seats/belts specially designed for larger pets. This will prevent the animal from being thrown around the vehicle in the event of an abrupt stop or accident.
  • Do not tie an animal by the neck to any part of the vehicle during a trip. If the animal is thrown forward during sudden braking or a collision, it may choke to death or have its neck broken.
  • If the animal get car sick, stop the vehicle & tend to it. Do not be distracted & keep turning around to check on it.
  • Never let the pet carrier or pet be positioned so that whenever the driver glances into the rearview mirror, all he sees is a larg pair of furry ears or a paw-print covered bag!

How Airbag Works?

Airbags were invented in the 1950s & have been available in cars since the late 1980s. Today, they are stardard safety features in most cars.

Pasts Of An Airbag
An airbag system consists of three parts:
  • A bag made of a thin, nylon fabric which is folded into the streering wheel or dashboard.
  • A sensor device which triggers the bag to inflate when there is a strong collision force.
  • The airbag's inflation system set off by the sensor which combines sodium azide & potassium nitrate to produce nitrogen gas that can fill the bag rapidly.
How Airbags Protect
While seatbelts are the primary restraint, airbags offer supplement protection & lessen the risk of serious injuries by reducing the force exerted by the steering wheel or dashboard on any part of the body.

Additionally, airbags dissipate the impact force over a larger area, whinch reduces the severity of injuries. If the body crashes directly into the steering wheel, all the force from the streering wheel will be applied to a small, localised area on the body. However, if the body hits an airbag, the force will be distributed over a larger area, resulting in relatively less serious injury.

In order for the airbag to cushion the head & torso for maximum protection, it must begin to deflate by the time the body hits it. Otherwise, the high internal pressure of the airbag would create a surface as hard as stone - not the protective cushion it's meant to be!

Crash tests showed that for an airbag to be useful as a protective device, the bag must deploy & inflate within 40 milliseconds.

Side Airbags
Side-impact airbags, which debuted in the mid-1990s, are more often found in higher-end sedans & certain SUVs & MPVs. These work like front airbags, but are located in the dorr, seat or roof of a vehicle instead. As their name suggests, they are designed to inflate & protect vechicls's occupants in a side impact & cushion other parts of the body. Side curtain-type airbags protect the head &, in some models, remain inflated for up to five seconds during rollovers.

Words Of Caution
While airbags reduce inhuries in accidents, they are never a substiute for seat belts.

Children under 12 should sit in the back seat because their bodies are too small to withstand the tremendous force of an inflating airbag. Infants in rear-facing car seats should not be placed in the front passenger seat with an active airbag.

APEXI - N1 Dual Muffler

The N1 Dual is a hybrid variation of the N1 exhaust. This system incorporates a twin pipe, twin canister design for improved mid-range torque without sacrificing top end power. The twin piping is constructed of mild steel with a titanium particle coating mated to SUS 304 polished stainless steel canisters. Each canister features a polished 90mm (3.54 inch) tip. Robotic TIG welds compliment the hand crafted MIG welds to create on of the most innovative and dynamic exhaust systems on the market.

CONCEPT:
Retain the same peak HP of the single N-1 while improving mid range torque

CHARACTERISTICS:
Mid to high-end power

APEXI - Super Silencer

The Super Silencer is the most effective way to lower sound output caused by a straight through racing exhaust sustem. The Silencer has also been shown to actually increase mid-range torque in some vehicles. On avera, the Super Silencer will lower exhaust noise output by approximately 7dB.

Available for A'PEX mufflers with 90mm or 115mm tip.

APEXI ATS (Active Tail Silencer)

ATS (Active Tail Silencer) - Dyno Tested Performance!

Recently, our friends over at Drag Sport Magazine suggested we put our ATS (Active Tail Silencer) retractable valve silencer to the test. The only way to truly tell if the design is a success is to get it on the dyno and run some tests. Of course we obliged, always ready and willing to throw our products into the firing range. The results were very clear, not only does the ATS reduce noise better than a standers type silencer but it makes substantially more power.

Testing was done to Drag Sports specifications using their own R33 GT-R Skyline as the test car. Decibel readings were recorded throughout the RPM range, while horsepower and boost pressure were plotted on the dyno computer. Test results showed an amazing 128 WHP gain in just switching from the standard silencer to the ATS. This increase in horsepower had absolutely no detrimental effect on the ATS sound suppression efficiency. In fact, the ATS actually came in at a remarkable 12 decibels lower than the standard silencer and 16 decibels lower than no silencer!
We were extremely pleased with the results uncovered through D Sports testing. The ATS has proven itself to be the leader of the next generation exhaust silencers.

Mitsubishi Announce Plans for 2006 Evolution Challenge

    PRESS INFORMATION

    20th October 2005

Mitsubishi's one-make series joins British Rally Championship

Higher Profile, incresed competition and top quality stages

Additionsl National A 'Evo Cup' series proposed

Mitsubishi Motors UK are pleased to announce that its popular single-make series for Group N Lancer Evolutions, the Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge, will follow all six rounds of next year’s British Rally Championship.

Having enjoyed five years of success with the ANCRO administered National Gravel Championship, Mitsubishi decided to take the Evolution Challenge to the BRC in 2006, following the announcement that WRC cars would be no longer be allowed to participate and therefore hand the competitive advantage to Class N4 machines.

Series organisers are confident that the move to the British Championship will see registrations for the series increase and provide a host of benefits to competitors, such as: High quality stages, top level competition, increased media profile, more opportunities for sponsors, special deals for registered competitors and therefore represent excellent value for money.

The new-look six-round British Championship will feature three gravel and three asphalt rallies, therefore providing a balanced mixture of surfaces. It is hoped that the inclusion of the asphalt events will make the Evolution Challenge more appealing to Irish competitors.

Organisers are aware that some teams will be concerned that the move to the BRC will see the cost of competing escalate, but with the British Championship taking on a new format, the difference of competing in eight events in 2005 and six events in 2006 will be minimal. A spokesman for the Evolution Challenge said:

“With the series launched at BRC Live at the beginning of the season and the Rally GB at the end, plus the addition of television coverage, there will be many more advantages for sponsors. Therefore, we hope that teams will exploit these features and see the move to the BRC as a great opportunity. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic year.”

With the Rally of Great Britain being the final round, organisers are currently considering an allocation of points for each day of competition and looking into the possibility of running ‘Super Rally’ rules for Evolution Challenge competitors.

Mitsubishi are pleased to confirm that the coveted prize of a works drive in a Group N Mitsubishi Evolution will be awarded to the 2006 Champion. The series will also enjoy an increased prize fund, which awards the first four drivers on each round and at the end of the season.

For competitors without International licences and for those not wishing to contest the British Rally Championship, subject to demand, Mitsubishi are proposing to introduce the ‘Evo Cup’, a seven round series which will run alongside the Evolution Challenge in 2006.

This new initiative will feature five gravel and two asphalt based National A status events. A prize fund similar to that of the International series will be on offer, but without the added attraction of a works drive for the Champion.

    APEXI AX75 Series Single Turbo

    AX75F82 Middle Single Turbine

The AX75F82 high power turbo is designed for single turbo applications requiring excellent response with high horsepower output. Horsepower range per individual turbine is from 550-650HP. The AIRICK assisted ball bearing shaft produces nearly identical response characteristics as the AX53 series with a far more potent HP output. Skyline GTR RB26DETT motors have produced 550-640HP while rotary engines produce 400-500HP. The AX75 turbo assembly can also be purchased separately for custom applications and can also be mated to various Setup Kits for individual engine a
    pplications.

    AX75F92 Turbine

To better suit the needs of our customers, many of the A’PEX turbos are available in different compressor and turbine size combinations. The AX75F92 features the same size compressor wheel and compressor housing as the AX75F82, as well as the same quick spooling ball bearing center cartridge. However, designed for maximum power extraction of a single turbo application, the AX75F92 features a larger exhaust turbine and turbine housing. The result of the larger turbine is a dramatic increase in exhaust flow and turbo efficiency. This combination has proven itself to produce maximum power in the range of 500-550HP on rotary engines and 700-750HP on single turbo RB26 applications.

    CONCEPT:
High power, high responce turbo designed for single turbo applications.

    APEXI Super Grounding System

Developed using innovative new concepts, the new A'PEX Super Grounding System stabilizes electrical noise and voltage spikes. The Super Ground System maximizes electrical component efficiency by combining an electrical grounding system with a battery current and voltage stabilization control unit. The control unit features an electrical charging system andelectrical noise filter. The double noise filter smoothes turbulent electrical current, providing a stable and consistent voltage flow to all your vehicles electrical devices. The A'PEX Super Grounding System maximizes the efficiency of all factory vehicle electrical systems, allowing smoother engine operation, more efficient electrical component operation, and improved electrical current. The stylish voltage stabilizer box compliments any engine bay with its attractive case design and ominous backlit A'PEX logo.
    - Uses a high capacity Double Condenser and Double Noise Filter
    - The A'PEX Super Ground System uses a high purity, temperature resistant OFC cable (non-oxidized copper) Copper wire diameter: 0.12mm X 665 utilizes inter-twined wire

    APEXI Auto Timer

The Apex Auto Timer allows the vehicle to idle for a preset amount of time after the ignition key has been removed. In turbocharged vehicles this prevents hot oil in the engine from coking up in the lines. Hard driving can raise engine oil temperatures to dangerously high levels. Proper cool down is essential for a healthy turbo and engine.

The Auto Timer stands as a technological marvel. The pen shaped, compact size makes the Auto Timer one of the smallest turbo timers on the market. This allows a clean and stylish installation virtually anywhere inside the car. The unique multi angle joystick button allows easy navigation through the many feature menus.

Upgraded in every way from the previous model, the new Auto Timer can automatically determine the necessary amount of after idling time. A Manual Mode allows the user to preset desired idling times from 0 sec.~10 minutes in 16 increments. By inputting O2 sensor voltage, the Timer can also display theoretical air fuel ratio. Since the Auto Timer uses the factory O2 sensor which is primarily designed for emissions, the readings may not be as accurate as racing air/fuel ratio monitors. The Timer can also display critical data such as O2 sensor voltage and Battery Voltage. To prevent potential theft while running, the handbrake safety feature shuts off the vehicle when the handbrake is released without the ignition key.

    CONCEPT:
    Provide turbos wind-down time

    CHARACTERISTICS:
Easy to use; Simple and attractive design

    APEXI Rev/ Speed Meter GP

The new Rev/Speed Meter GP is a complete multi function measuring device designed to measure and monitor data such as vehicle speed, engine RPM, and elapsed times. However, the strength of the new unit lies in its differences. Probably the most obvious being its completely redesigned look. This new aesthetically pleasing model was crafted to match the likes of other highly popular A'PEX electronics such as the VAFC (VTEC Controller) and the AVCR (Boost Controller). The new screen utilizes the easy to read VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) with built in light sensor used in many of A'PEX's line up.

The new unit also delivers a host of new functions. Standard features include: Engine RPM, Vehicle Speed, Travel Distance, and Battery Voltage (All which can be displayed in real time graph mode, numerical mode, or analogue mode; 1-4 channels at a time.), Peak Hold, Replay (With 60 second playback.), Speed Limiter Cut, 0-100m, 200m, 400m times with trap speed, 0-100km/h, 200km/h, 300km/h times, 100km/h, 200km/h, 300km/h E0 times, user defined Mid Range Acceleration, Stop Watch functions, Best Time Memory, RPM Warning, Speed Warning, RPM and Speed Outputs (For external devices requiring an RPM or speed signal.), Tire Size Correction (For acceleration and timing accuracy.), and Vehicle weight input.

One of the most exiting of the new features is the option to utilize the revolutionary A'PEX G-Sensor (Sold separately). The G Sensor allows the unit to measure G forces in 4-way front/rear/left/right directions. This data can be plotted in a graph display to map acceleration characteristics and lateral G's on the race track, or used in an array of new features including: Highly accurate 100m/200m/400m times with trap speed and wheel-spin correction, Horsepower Calculation, and Loss Power Calculation. By taking advantage of the optional G Sensor, the user can produce extremely accurate acceleration measurements. Usually, when measuring acceleration times using the speed sensor signal alone, the meter will end measurement too early (shorter distance) due to wheel-spin. Using the G Sensor modifies the speed sensor signal, compensating for wheel-spin and producing impeccably accurate acceleration times.

    CONCEPT:
    Multifunction monitoring and timing device

    CHARACTERISTICS:
Variety of functions such as tach, speed, 0-400m time, etcEin one unit.

    APEXI S-AFC Select

We are pleased to announce that the industry standard S-AFC II fuel computer can now be enjoyed by European car enthusiasts!

The Super AFC (Air Flow Converter) Select is based off of the world renowned S-AFC II piggyback subcomputer. The S-AFC Select is designed to fine tune and "squeeze" power out of existing engine setups by allowing the user to modify the fuel curve with precision accuracy. Since the act of simply bolting on performance products does not make maximum horsepower, the S-AFC Select allows the user to calibrate the fuel system in accordance with performance upgrades as they are installed. The AFC modifies the air flow meter/ pressure sensor signal voltage going to the factory ECU (Engine Control Unit) to change the amount of fuel injected. The S-AFC Select utilizes a VFD (Vacuum Florescent Display) to display critical data in three different modes.

Features for the S-AFC Select include:
Newly designed case and user interface, single button menu navigation, 12 point fuel correction in 200 RPM increments, data storage for two different correction maps, password protection, integrated knock monitor, and 4 different display options.

The Deceleration Air Flow Correction cures erratic idle problems for Hot Wire vehicles equipped with an open atmosphere blow off valve. The S-AFC II can also display an incredible amount of data including: Air Flow Capacity (Hotwire and Flap Type only), Engine RPM, Throttle Position, Pressure Sensor voltage, Karmann Frequency, and Air Flow Meter Correction.

The S-AFC Select displays data in three different modes: Numerical, Analog, and Graph. Numerical Mode allows the user to monitor up to four different parameters in numbers and also shows peak hold values on demand. The Analog Mode displays up to two values in an easy to read meter style display. Peak Hold is also included in this function. The Graph mode offers real time graph plotting with a Ghost map trace feature built in. The graph can replay movement up to 60 seconds.

    CONCEPT:
All the functions of the world famous S-AFC II with built in calibration for use with European cars.

    CHARACTERISTICS:
Piggyback fuel controller with integrated knock monitor. 12 point fuel correction in 200 RPM increments. Separate HIGH and LOW throttle maps. Data storage for two different maps.
