How much you know about tyre?

A tyre is a flexible container of compressed air that supports the car's load, moves & stops the car, & cushions it from the bumps on the road. That's just a basic description. There's more about tyres that you should know.

Tyres have between 19 to 25 components & are built from inside out. The core is an inner liner that gives the tyre its shape & holds in the air. Fabric belts are wrapped around the inner liner. A bead fastened to the bottom of the fabric belts holds the tyre to the wheels. Steel belts are placed on top of the fabric belts to give the tyre stability & make the tread pattern as flat as possible. Outermost are the tyres treads on the top of the belts.

After changing a vehicle's tyres, the wheels should be balanced. Balancing the wheels & tyres on your car is done for safety reasons to prevent accident & for a smooth, vibration free ride. It also lengthens tyre life.

Wheel alignment should also be carried out so that the car can drive straight without veering to one side. It also ensures that the tyres on the car wear evenly. Wheel alignment should be carried out when new tyres are fitted & at regular intervals throughout the life of the tyre. Tyres should be rotated too, to prevent uneven tyre wear. You definitely do not want your new tyres to wear at a faster rate or you might need to cough out money for a new set of tyre cost again. So bear that in mind.
